Feed-Me has been dropping some quality tracks since his monster debut album Feed-Me's Big Adventure, what was truly an adventure [Highly recommended]. Trending on the current wave of Dub-influenced Electo synths and samples, Gooch sets himself apart from the dozens of other producers using the same palette with his tasteful and complex layering. Skrillex's Filthy Cinema

I thought a lot of you had already heard this remix... I am begining to realize the monstrosity of this remix does not match its reach. Benny Benassi's Cinema has lyrics that may very well become a mini summer anthem. However, this remix by the Prince of Darkness (a.k.a. Skrillex) is a diamond in the filth. Every time I play this song aloud to a pair of unsuspecting ears, the physical reaction to the song's drop seems to be consistant: First- a startled look (like a gunshot just went off at midnight in a quiet suburban neighborhood). Then- the slow half-step head-nod begins to the beat. The reaction is finalized when the listener looks up with a strong and ugly Stank Face that one would get if tricked into eating a black Jelly Bean... After having your brain bashed in by this amazing array of noises, Skrillex reminds us darkness can only exist in a world of light, and brings us back to Gary Go's vocals. The excitement builds all over again, and repeats. "D-D-D-D-D-Drop tha Bass".

Skrillex has done it once again, and it is clear why he is a HpW favorite. If this is your first (or one of a few) exposures to Skrillex make sure to pick up his album Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites and have your mind blown. He will also be at Coachella on Friday, and you would be stupid to miss his sweaty spectacle.

Deadmau5 Remixes the Foo-Fighters!

Mr. Joel Zimmerman demonstrated his mouse-like reflexes, wasting no time to drop his newest remix of the Foo Fighters single "Rope" from their upcoming album, Wasting Light, out April 12th. The Mau5 sped the tempo up a bit and nibbled away at song's rock, just enough to make room to inject some dance. It's an amazing balance of genres that had its debut when Deadmau5 stopped by Pete Tong's BBC Radio1 show a few days ago. If you ask me, it deserves a hell of alot more Radio play here in the states.

Also, if you are a Deadmau5 fan, you need to check out some of the delicious little nuggets he has been releasing on his SoundCloud recently. One of my personal favorites is the song mysteriously named "HR 8938 Cephei" (which is also available to buy on Beatport).

Question: What is better than two hot blonds? Answer: Twin sisters that make Dirty Beats. Meet Nervo a.ka. Liv and Mim Nervo. The last couple Nervo tracks I have heard have been bangers; I had to know more. Upon further investigation I was pleasently surprised to find there is more than meets the eye. These babes are the real deal and there resume is quite impressive.
Songwriters and by day their clever and sassy lyrics have penned songs you have undoubtedly heard... David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over" featuring Kelly Rowland (as well as 2 other tracks on his Grammy award winning album); 3 songs on Ke$ha's Animal and well as calibrations with the likes of Kaskade, Pussycat Dolls, Laidback Luke, the Mau5, and my personal favorite Miley Cyrus. They just signed with Austrawekrs and Virgin Records dealed to sign any new talent they may find under their own Nervo Records. I'm excited, and expecting big things from these ladies. I have been searching for Sunday Girl in between cushions of the web ever since I posted Diplo's remix of Four Floors a few months ago. The beauty's music has slowly been trickling out, but still has yet to release an album in the US... C'mon Girl! I love your style. Stop teasing.

For years Sunday Girl a.k.a. Jade Williams only used to sing along to radio in her room behind a closed door. With an ear to the door her mother asked (and probably begged) her to take her talents public, however a severe case of stage fright terrified her to no end. Allegedly, her mother took her to several visits to a hypnotherapist to cure her of her phobia, and oh how thankful we are to mamma Williams. The U.K. native's name comes from an job she had in a pet store where she worked only on sunday Sunday, and was known simply as Sunday Girl.

Her debut album is said to be due out next June and allegedly produced in part by Diplo himself. If this is a lie I am going to have to commit Hara-kiri. Until then here are some Sunday Girl tracks to tickle your fancy.

Dusting off the spider webs after a crazy summer of mayhem. I must say it feels good to be back at it again. Have you ever sat alone wondering/hoping that someone else in the world is feeling the same thing that you are.... comforting yourself with the thought that if someone else has been able live through the same pain that everything is going to be ok? William Fitzsimmons knows what I'm talking about. I needed to find this song, and I'm glad I did.

William Fitzsimmons has a very interesting story that may lend to explain the healing that his music seems to bring. Growing up in a household with two blind parents, the house was filled with a pluthera of musical instruments to tickle the strong auditory senses that remained. From the begining of his life music was always meant to heal, and as you can hear, Will learned how to harness it well.

The Swedish have been dishing out some amazing music recently, and no matter what the weather is like around you today, this remix is sure to put some sunshine in your day. We can thank these two beauties, Rebecca & Fiona. These ladies seem to rule the Stockholm club scene with an army of devout followers, and hosts to one of Sweden's most popular blogs. While they spend most of their time DJ's the club scene, they have also put out some original music of their own, and their latest single "Luminary Ones" is a huge hit.
It seems that the Swedish stick together, because the final touch was put on this song by some other Stockholm natives, the trio known as Nause. This is the first remix we have heard from these guys, but hopefully its not the last.

All I have to say is thank god I found this song. Everyone's favorite goofy summer anthem has been infectiously spreading itself. Bop Bop Americano! I quickly sparked a smile the first time I heard Yolanda Be Cool's 'We No Speak Americano' played on my friend's iPod. To be honest, after hearing for the 3rd time in a row, I was ready to throw the iPod it was playing on out of the window. I thought to myself the whole time I was listening to it... "something is out of place... something is missing" The song didn't quite go where I was hoping it would. I knew it needed that remix touch.
When I found Chew Fu's remix I just about wet my pants. The 'something missing' has been found! Bop Bop Americano! Brooklyn's Chew Fu is a self proclaimed 'Serial Fixer' that seems to be constantly listening to public demand and upgrading songs to club-banger status. He has re-touched everything from Frank Sinatra, to Snoop Dogg, to Gaga... all with great success.

Mention Neo Tokyo and I'm thinking... Japan, excessive neon lights, lasers and crazy transportation; something like a scene out of 'Running Man'. I'm also thinking of another movie, one that disturbed me as a child. Believing it was a friendly cartoon, ignoring the R rating on it's box, I happily pushed 'Akira' into the VCR and pressed play. What followed was nuclear explosions, World War III and gang wars. All of which, in classic Manga style were detailed very graphically... especially for a 6 year old.

So with these connotations in mind it also comes as a surprise to find out that Neo Tokyo hail from *drum roll* ... WALES! That's right the land of sheep, rugby and place names like Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch, pronounce that one if you can!

This track could definitely be used in one of those typical vibrant montages we so often see in a creative Manga film such as Akira... or right in your ears so loud you stank face as if you just found out that yes, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch is an actual place whilst licking whipped cream off a raw chicken breast!

Well, lo and behold it was released yesterday, and the little dance monster in me jumped with joy. Its always a pleasure when a new Jakwob track comes our way. Everyday we see more and more Dubstep crossing with pop and appealing to a larger audience and Jakwob is partly responsible for the emergence of this popularity with the poignant wobble & thump that he dishes out. The contrast of the elements in his his remixes always seem to amaze me, leaving me saying "who would have thought these vocals would go so well with this dirtiness!?"

Katie Melua's "The Flood" from her album The House is an amazing song, and is definitely an original that you must check out, but it will make you fall asleep if you listen to it for too long. DarkSky At Night

I was recently partying at Mezzanine in San Francisco which is one of my favourite night spots in the city. It was the 'Hard' debut featuring Major Lazer, Rusko and Miike Snow. Each act dropped heavy sets and had people, myself included, dancing like the wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man.

It was one of the interlude DJ's that had me like 'WHAT! NO WAY! This is so SIIIICK!' which I must have repeated like a madman for the whole song! The guy took me back to my high school years of the late 90's and memories of UK garage on the boombox, I did not expect to hear this genre in the U.S.A, which made it even better! The XX are already one of my favourite new bands to emerge in the last year. 'Crystalised' is a great track but it's had a makeover by Darksky and it is class. I had to do some research but after a few minutes I have found the track that made a memorable night more so. The joy of having google and youtube!

Darksky is/are from London and it seems he/she/they are a Garage/DnB/Dubstep act that is all I know, but something tells me I am going to enjoy finding out more.

Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello have all had massively successful solo careers but, this year sees them fusing their musical minds together having just signed the biggest ever electronic music deal in history with EMI! Swedish House Mafia have been around unofficially for a couple of years but it is now confirmed and 'ONE' is their first official track from the upcoming album, put quite simply, it's a Dancefloor anthem!

This track killed it at the Miami Winter Music Conference, it didn't have a name at the time but the masses went wild! "Some Chords" does not deviate far from the Deadmau5 sounds we have all grown to love, but still seems to have a fresh new twist. If you have seen one of his shows before, Im sure you could easily place this track at the top of his set... and when the breakdown hits about 1:30 into the song, imagine a see of loyal jumping mice.

Aeroplane, as their name suggests, elevate the listener from the ear drum popping heavy electro aloft to a cosmic musical space. I first came across Aeroplane on a recent Mixmag CD hailing the return of Mylo, who has been off the radar for some time now, look out for his return, it should be epic! One of the selections on Mylo's mix is a lush remix by the Belgian duo of Lindstrom & Christabelle's Baby Cant Stop which actually dissolves your inner ear.

Well well ladies + gents... Its always a treat when the boys over at Pance Party send over a new track, and their new remix of Somethingalamode's 5am is a headphone + club killer! Im fucking dancing in my chair!

Pance Party has been dishing out bangers one after another. Their last EP, Kim Jong Thrill, garabbed some serious attention on the Electro House charts rising up to the Top-4 on Beatport. Included among the many perked ears and raised eyebrows, was Mr. Benni Benassi, who asked Pance Party to remix his new single "Spaceship" featuring Kelis and APL from the Black Eyed Peas. Oh boy... My mouth is watering in anticipation! It should be a monster. Look for that to be released soon on a compilation through Benassi's label. Question: why do some of the best Electro/House remixes are often from artists that we rarely hear of, often becoming hotter than the original track itself?
Answer: Producers like Pance Party. They can take a song we would often brush off because it is just missing that certain 'jeuje' and fill in the blanks with delicious n' dirty sounds that make our heads bob and our asses shake. Case in Point: this remix. Faster tempo & lyrics that dance with the original violin and carefully tuned synth that Pace Party does oh-so-well. Just listen already!

Having shared the stage with Justice and Boys Noize, Japanese DJ Trio 80Kidz are not just some randoms giving it a go. The threesome seem to have boarded the Bandwagon created by Daft Punk along with the Ed Banger crew and such'like.

Japanese Electro??? These guys may as well be french but whilst a lot of their material may slightly lack originality, 80kidz get it right! Their album released in 2009 entitled This is my Shit includes differing styles from 'Flying Buttress' which would fit easily on Justice's Cross album to more pop influenced tracks like She featuring Autokratz to the more mellow 'Arab.Hertz.Club'. The variation is what I really like.

Wow! I love 'yin-yang' remixes like this: the voice of an angel contrasted by a filthy+evil beat. I dont know what it is about Florence Welch that does it for me, but her voice gives me goosebumps. Last week at Coachella the Gobi tent was packed and overflowing when Florence+The Machine performed thanks to the popularity they have gained online. However I think its the remixes like You Got the Love that The XX did a few months back (post here), and this Dog Days Are Over track by Breakage that are turning heads and prompting people to ask "who is that!?"
James Boyle a.k.a. Breakage did a really nice job with this one while taking it up a notch or two from the original. Only someone with years of Dubstep/Drums & Bass/Electro experience could adapt an indie wonder into a gentle-monster like this. Dont let this mix fool you though, Breakage is a true Dubstep/Drums & Bass producer with some really filthy originals and calibrations like those on his Foundatins Album.

Well this seems to be the perfect Monday track and it comes to us from The Boogaloo Crew. I must warn that if you listen to this on your headphones while walking you may start skipping and dancing. Great day-time beat.

The Boogaloo Crew is a young London based duo that has been on my radar for a bit now with some great remixes and well as a few orignal songs. They have songs with all sorts of different feels, from their Dark n' Dirty Dubstep, to some lighter ambient remixes like they have done with this Jose Gonzalez remix. Young and still experimenting the Boogaloo Crew doesn't have a set/distinct sound yet, which doesn't seem to be a problem since they have knocked out some really great music.

Everyone finds comfort in their own dark place from time to time, and Diplos newest remix has taken its place comforting me for the past few weeks now.

Diplo is arguably one of the best track tinkering-DJ/Producers out there today. Some know him as half of Major Lazer, a project caloborated with Switch in Jamaica. Mississippi born Thomas Wesley Pentz a.k.a. Diplo was raised all over the country, went to school in Florida and later became a Phillidelphia native, and as a result you can hear the multi-cultural influence in his beats and re-workings with a dash of flair from the Dirty South. A wide range of remixes has gained quite a following with everything from Britney Spears to Santogold. His rainbow pallete of productions has just gained another color with his latest endeavor: a remix of Sunday Girl's "Four Floors". While a few of Diplos past remixes have had some hints of Dubstep in them id this latest mix embraces Dubstep the genre with a big bear hug. His tasteful dash of Wobble and Drobble truly compliments this song in amazing way. This song is guarenteed to grow on you.

If you haven't been following Diplo, there is no better time to start than now with his latest album "Decent Work for Decent Pay" His constantly evolving style and consistant quality beats make for hit after hit. Tiesto Strikes Again

2009 was the biggest year yet for the biggest name in House Music. 2010 looks to top that. Many remain skeptical that Tiesto will release a new album this year, however his worldwide tour and globe-hopping skills have not stopped him from releasing killer remixes. This weeks new Tiesto remix of "These New Knights" is no exception. London based Où Est le Swimming Pool is an electro pop band most known for their track ‘Dance the Way I Feel’ and it's Armand van Helden Remix. Looks like Tiesto is making sure they wont be forgotten. Expect him to drop this track next weekend at Coachella.

Also, Mysto & Pizzi's killer remix of a Tiesto's "Knock You Out" from his Kaleidoscope album has come my way. They have added some Heavy Electro, a big build up and a complimenting drop. Fucking fantastic if you ask me. You may not realize it, but you have already heard their remake of "Somebody's Watching Me" that is plastered all over Geico's TV ad campaigns. These are two very talented producers that you should be sure to keep an eye/ear out for.

One of UK's finest DJ/Producer duos teamed up with Louise Marshall to channel the spirit of late 80's into this dance floor killer. Ms. Marshall obviously borrowed the chorus from 'Pump Up the Jam' but the NAPT boys removed the stonewashed jeans and spandex and replaced it with Nike Dunks and laser shows: Hello 2010! Jack Beats then put their hard-house touch on this remix but left it pretty close to the original since it was already a killer. This song is DEFINITELY one for your next dance party playlist.

So it has come to my attention that not many of you know who Jakwob is... this is unacceptable so school is now in session.

London based DJ James Jacob aka Jakwob is a multi-instrumentalist artist who has played many bands since his teens. Just from his history you can tell he is a true musician; starting in jazz moving on to play death metal and folk. Recently he has been gaining alot of ground as a Dubstep DJ, and rightfully so, knocking out monster after monster. His uncanny ability to step away from the cookie-cutter form of Dubstep and sample amazing vocals to contrast his brain melting rythems allow him to produce some truly remarkable remixes.

This record for some reason makes me think of the word assassin and all it's connotations. It wraps itself around you and chills you to the point the hairs on the back of your neck stand tall. It's much more down-tempo and eloquently restrained which is unusual for Foals energetic dance pop style. Spanish Sahara has many layers that may leave you uncertain but give it a couple of listens... It's unique not so unique, I feel like I've heard something similar to this before or have I? ... Certainly not from Foals which is part of the reason why I love Spanish Sahara. The record is progressive it's as if it's a thick soup gently brought to the boil, motionless to begin it slowly stirs and eventually erupts... Antidotes was one of my favourite albums of 2008 and this is brand spanking new material from Foals, their new album due out in May this year.

After being hit in the face like a cold arctic wind by Miike Snow already this year. Turboweekend join ranks with Bjork, Sigur Ros, Royksopp and the aforementioned as they prove to be yet another Nordic sensation. Known for their "Dance Rock" sound combining smiley face scrunching bass with soaring vocals from lead singer Silas Bjerregaard and wizard like electronic flourishes. 'Trouble Is' truly is a great record from many on their 2nd album 'Ghost Of A Chance'. Hot UK Psychedelic Dubstep artist/producer Joker has given 'Trouble Is' a reworking which is also worth checking out.

Happy Hump-day you music junkies. Welcome back to the Whiplash! I know its been a while but H-W had to take a back seat to what actually pays the bills for a little while (depressing, I know).

The latest Whiplash is a fresh new quartet of electro-pop deliciousness known as The Atypicals. This Ohio based band tickled the same part of my fancy that has been stimulated by Phoenix for the past few months, with a fresh new spin. I am loving the smooth and melodic synths with a dirty undertone. They lyrics are cleverly paced but also seem to come very naturally. Listen for yourself. Are you thinking the same thing I am? "WHERE ARE THE REMIXS!?" Well I did find the Digiratti remix of Venus for your listening pleasure (it is quite fantastic if I do say so myself), but I am on the lookout for a hard Dirty Dance Party remix of Love Electric Soul to contrast its smooth lyrics. Alan Wilkis or Gigamesh need to hit it.

Who likes Tiësto? Of course you do, that was a rhetorical question.

Tiësto released his album Kaleidoscope a few months ago with a self titled opening track which eased you into the album. The angelic voice on the track belongs to Jonsi from Sigur Rós. This song has gets me nostalgic and takes me back to the INCREDIBLE show Tiësto put on in LA a month ago which he opened with this song. Now, the famous Welsh drum and bass DJ High Contrast has taken the song and literally given it an extra kick or two. He transforms the song from a 'gates of Heaven' sort of feel to 'death the middle of an orgasm and now are standing in front of the gates of Heaven.'

Chester French - C'mon REMIXES

Well Well, It looks like two of Headphone Whiplash's favorite tinkerer DJ's have struck again... Yes ladies and gents, Pance Party and Alan Wilkis have dirtified the same Chester French track.

If you are asking "Chester-who?" hold your calls and take a seat, you are about to get schooled. Chester French is a fantastic indie rock Duo that paired up during their studies at Harvard University. They named their band after Daniel Chester French: sculptor of the Abe statue at the Lincoln Memorial (among other works). Earlier this year they teamed up with the oh-so-popular club DJ Clinton Sparks to create a mixtape Jacques Jams, Vol 1: Endurance. Their debut album Love the Future just dropped as well.

Now for the fun part: the remixes! Brooklyn based Alan Wilkis took Chester's original song C'mon and added his own flair to it. I love Wilkis' remixes because they seem to encompass influences from the 80's, 90's as well as some of the best electro from this soon to end decade. I can almost guarantee that he has at least one wall of his place covered with audio cassettes that he visits from time to time. The best part about Alan's mixes is that he jam-packs them full of sound without ever over-doing it. If you haven't already, be sure to check out his debut album Pink and Purple as well as two of his other remixes we posted here and here.

Our boys Pance Party also dropped another monster. Doing what they do best they dirtified C'mon into a dance killer with their fantastic pallet of zaps, synth, booms, beeps and claps. Now that 2009 is coming to a close I can safely say that Pance Party has one of my favorite remixes of the year with their take on Shakira's She Wolf. These guys have proved that they are not one hit bitches, instead rulers of the dance floor. Ladies and gents, Pance Party is here to stay.

Which remix is better? That is an unecessary question. Listen to them both!

The House of Gaga dropped this fantastic little Christmas Poo. A track she recorded back in 2007 (and never released) leaked onto the net for your listening pleasure. It samples 'Lollipop' performed by The Chordettes from 1958 and features lyrics reportedly written by the Gaga herself. Enjoy this little gem. Not a dance song, but will easily find its way into one of your pre-new years activities. Who knows... maybe someone will remix this with some dirty bumps.

The demo disk it came from includes other early recordings of Beautiful Dirty Rich, Wonderful, Brown Eyes and Disco Heaven that are premature versions of what was later album-released. If you guys have any interest in those songs let me know and I can post them.

Chew Lips is a London trio consisting of singer Tigs, and multi-instrumentalists Will Sanderson and James Watkins. They only started making last year but are picking up some popularity on the other side of the pond quickly. Fun fact: Their name comes from a character in the book Borstal Boy by Brendan Behan. If you like Zero 7 you should like these guys.

Doctor!? Is there a doctor in the house!? Why yes, yes there is... Doctor Rosen Rosen is on the job. This remix fills a void for me that I didnt think this song (or any remix of it) could fill. Its hard to explain, but the Doctors beat it not what would would expect to accompany such a song. After a little lyric warping and smooth electro bitch-slap, Doctor Rosen Rosen is on repeat in my headphones.

Also, if you guys have not heard of Dr. Rosen Rosen before this, make sure to check out the entire mixtape he made of Lilly Allen's "It's not me It's you" album. He has taken Allen's algelic album put a ski-mask on it. Its dark and eerily amazing. A must check out HERE.

This San Franciscan Trio, born on the shores of Isla Vista Santa Barbara, drops beats so big it may cause you to stomp your foot through the floor.

Rod “Sticky K” Kashani and Phil “Philthy Rodriguez” Reyneri just started the label Super Best Friends Club which is also an event production company and clothing line. Oh, and not to mention their SBFC Headquarters in the Dogpatch district of Frisco that houses their recording studio and is home to some massive parties. Why dont I live in San Fran yet? Expect to head big things from Sticky K and Pance Party here in the future. As always, be sure to show them some love.

Apparently, Travis Barker doesn't sleep. At all. Which is how he's able to keep cranking out remixes while simultaneously working on a new Blink-182 record, his own solo album, and rehearsing for an upcoming show with Slash Oh and he has a couple other buinesses and a couple kids. This dude does not stand still.

Travis picked up some serious skills from his late friend DJ AM. Barker started with Drake's track Forever and added acapella verses from Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem. He then built the base track and beat from the ground up to finally play his drums over. Absolutely amazing!

"Remixes are hard, because some of my critics will be like, 'Trav, you shoulda gone bananas on it,' but going bananas on it will sometimes take away from how cool a song is — it's a happy medium," he laughed. "With this one, I see a gradual crescendo — it just gets bigger and bigger and bigger, all the way up until the last chorus, where I crash out and there's a big Phil Collins moment, with a drum-fill solo underneath Drake's chorus. If you like HEAVY synthesizer sounds you are going to love this. This Sticky K remix definitely fits the Sticky K mold: He loves to take samples and beat the shit out of them with buzzes, claps and rolling effects. Kind of like what it would sound like if your car alarm and a Star-wars pod-racer got into a kung-fu battle. This is the perfect song the next time two people want to battle in a dance-off. Like i said, this song is a HEAVY remix... It may not be for all of you, but for some of you It will hit the spot.

As for La Roux.... Its always a pleasure to hear their stuff remixed (the chicks voice that is sampled around :50). If you haven't checked out any of their original music, put that on your to-do list.

I said it out loud when I first heard this song, and I'll say it again right now... WHAT THE FUCK!? I mean I know Three 6 Mafia has experimented with Hip-House before, but they entered a whole new realm when they went Dutch with Tiesto producing this one. I'm guessing Tiesto produced this in Maiami, seeing as Sean Kingston and Flo-Rider backed them up. Its full, dirty and hard, and I will probably have this bitch on repeat just out of sheer disbelief (I'm still not sure if I even like this song). No, it's not a mashup. This track is the Thirds single to be released from Three-6's upcoming album "Laws of Power" dropping February 2010 (yeah... they are milking it).

Here is some Angelic Electro-pop for those of you out there that own gold sneakers (or wish you did). Keep and eye out for Ellie Goulding as she has some really fun tracks out there right now, including some covers of from the likes of Sam Sparrow and Passion Pit.

A: Gigamesh is the Haas that Remixed this song... Twice. The first was featured on Posner's latest mix-tape... but apparently he was not done yet. There was more synth, cuts, and chirps to put in. Super-star clusterfuck. D.C.'s finest kills it on this track. His lyrics write a few 'To whom it may concern:' letters to convey his stand to everyone from Obama to Tupac to his fans. Wale, you lyricist you! Uber-producer Mark Ronson has spent the last few months working with Wale on his new album. I don't know who pulled who in, but John Mayer hopped on this track with his guitar and vocals that he borrowed from his original song 3x5. I was going to call this a remix, but after close listening It seems John re-recorded these tracks just for Wale and Mark.

The notes in the main guitar riff of this song are not supposed to sound good when played together, it sounds like the guitar is out of tune, but somehow the boys from Beat! Beat! I am reluctant to post this song because after listening it might throw some of you into depression once you realize its not Friday yet. This is a killer remix from one of my favorite DJ's ever... Alex Metric: master of the tasteful remix.

I have heard more remixes of this song then I can shake my dick at, but this one is different and probably my favorite. While most of the other remixes speed up the tempo to give the song more 'danceable' energy, Alex Metric's version achieves the same effect slowing the tempo down. See for yourself. At the beginning of the track you will find yourself nodding and rolling your head like a bobble head on your dashboard while you are driving 5mph on the freeway. As you make your way to the middle of the song your feet (or butt if you are sitting) will start to move. 1:53 triggers INSTANT STANK-FACE followed a section where you start asking yourself how you can adapt old 80's dance moves to this new groove.

Don’t judge me… 1/2 of Bloodshy & Avant is a member of Miike Snow, OK. Plus this track has way far too many chirps, glitches and bleeps for me to resist. It’s like a submarine ride… except not so hardcore, but seriously there’s an awesome breakdown @ 3:00. I don’t care, I like it.

It turns out this Swedish Producing/DJ Duo has worked with some big names including Madonna, Ms. Dynamite, Christina Milian, Girls' Generation, Kelis, Kylie Minogue and Jennifer Lopez. The two are responsible for the Spears song "Toxic" that ended up winning a Grammy. I guess they didn't like the original version of Radar so they decided to do it right. Im glad they did.

90210 is one of my favorite tracks off this amazing album. This track was produced by THE Mark Ronson who has worked with Everyone from Jay-Z (he produced his entire Fade to Black album), to Santogold, to Stevie Wonder, and everyone in between. Be sure to check this album out folks its good top to bottom.

Fun fact: Wale was born in Nigeria as Olubowale Victor Folarin... I guess that was too hard to say so he wisely chose a sage name instead. I have no idea how to say his frist name, but if you figure it out and happen to see him on the street im sure you could get his attention.

Brooklyn Producer/DJ Alan Wilkis just dropped this jam earlier this week. He beats the shit out of this Shwayze track, keeping the energy going hard through the entire track. This indie band from Canada has really been getting my attention lately. They are quite good, eyh? The voice of this quintet is Emily Haines who also plays the guitar and synth (but not the two at the same time). There is something very clean and soothing about her voice. This song is from Metric's latest album called Fantasies. If you can appriciate a good indie record this is one to check out... If you like this song you will probably like "Gimme Sympathy" as well. There are also some great remixes surfacing, but this original version is still my favorite.

Lykke Li (feat. Drake) - Little Bit

'Hipster Rap' is the genre name they are giving to the likes of Kid Cudi and Drake. Musically, Drake has a very digestible appeal as a rapper touching topics like relationships, family and everyday life. He began writing at the age of 10 and is now at a point where he is working with the likes of Little Brother, Slum Village and The Clipse (to name a few). Definitely add him to your list of artists to look for.

For this one he remixed a song from Swedish indie singer Lykke Li. I have heard some of Lykke Li's other music and frankly I get bored and end up changing the song after about a minute. However, Drake hit the spot on this one. I don't know why but this song makes me feel like its been drizzling rain all day.

Alright so it looks like two bands just fucked and conceived one hell of a remix. Less is definitely more more with this one. Florence + The Machine is basically just a chick named Florence Welch who sings under that "band name." The XX is a London band consisting of four 20 year old musical prodigies. Prodigies? you say... Id think so. After all they took a song and morphed it into their own amazing iterpretation with alot of contrast to Ms. Welch's original version. All the beats and the Male Singing are The XX. Definently a band to check in the future: both their original and remixed songs.

This has been a summer to remember for Deadmau5 as he picked up a lot of traction after his killer remixes and the release of his new album "For Lack of a Better Name". I also had the pleasure of seeing him play at San Francisco's LovEvolution, and he is responsible for all of the dance blisters I got that day. His set was definitely the high point of the festival. I also love that he almost always plays his shows with one of his signature Deadmau5 masks; like the one pictured above.

Most of Deadmau5's (pronounced 'Dead-Mouse') songs are heavily synthesized with rythmic beats and heavy sample re-cutting... You know the kind that give you a stank face while you bob your head and turn it from side to side. This Daft Punk remix of his is no different. (If you are thinking 'wait, isn't this a Kanye song?'.... no people: Kanye sampled that shit from Daft Punk. Now you know.)

Alot of people ask me "why do some of these remixes seem start out slow with a just a beat and don't develop until about about a minute into it?" Well I got my first request: more Thom Yorke... I must oblige it. well this sent me on a little journey of my own today. I listened to some stuff that I had and then looked to see what I didnt have. When I first heard this song It was on my big surround sound system and I must say It was it was truly magical. Wow, I love everything about this song. It has just made my life a bit better.Thom Yorke wrote this song for his friend Mark Mulachy when his wife suddenly died this September on an album called "Ciao My Shining Star". Check this album out if you have a chance. Its really quite good. This guy Mark Mulachy had some very musical friends including Michael Stripe of R.E.M. who does "Its all Coming Undone" on the album as well.

Does this sound strikingly familiar? Well thats because Thom Yorke is singer and principal songwriter for this little band called Radiohead. He branches out and does music of his own now. Rolling Stone cited him among the most influential figures in the music industry... NBD. This one is classic Yorke: pretty dark and pretty electronic. Oh Boi! My first post! So many choices, so many decisions... Im going to have to start with the song that has been on repeat in my headphone for the past few days.

This track might just be one of the best remixes of the year. It's Creator, DJ A-Trak, is probably the most famous DJ you have never heard of. A-Trak was the first DJ to win all three major DJ competition titles (DMC,ITF and Vestax), as well as being the first DJ to win five World Championships. He won the DMCs World DJ Championship in 1997 at the age of 15, making him the youngest and first Canadian winner of the competition.

DJ's listen up... This song needs to hit more dance clubs. Period.
